The Jaganmohana Palace was constructed in 1861 by the king, His Highness Krishnaraja Wodeyar III as an alternate retreat for the royal family. The Mysore Palace, which was the original home of the royal family, was burnt down in a fire incident and the construction of a new palace in its place was started in 1897. Until the new palace was completed in 1912, the Jaganmohan Palace, not far from it, housed the royal family.

In 1915, the palace was converted into an art gallery in which capacity it stands to this day. It contains one of the largest collections of artefacts in South India. Most of these artefacts are paintings, prominent among which are those by Raja Ravi Varma.

Take home a Mysuru palace exclusive and add it to your collection of “The Seven Mysore Palaces’’ and gift it to your special ones.
