Oval-shaped traditional nested dolls of elephants crafted with polychrome wood. These nested dolls that fit one inside another had its origin in the Upper Volga regions of Russia, and have been imbibed into the Channapatna doll tradition of Karnataka.
These elephants make an amusing, colourful presence in the drawing rooms and living rooms at homes. These distinctively crafted souvenirs can work just as well as vases for flowers that never fade.
For kids, they serve as an engaging pedagogical activity of learning sizes and proportions, as well as learning to mantle and dismantle things.
